Timeline

Phase 1: 2015 and 2016

  • Complete business plan. Complete.

  • Build partnerships and form a board. Complete.

  • Complete farm design with aid of Kansas State University Colleges of Architecture and Agriculture. Completed two iterations. Final design handed off to an architectural firm. Can be ready to build after 6 months of detailed plans.

Phase 2: 2016 and 2017

  • Locate farm site and begin funding campaign. Complete (3 year lease with option to buy)

  • Begin curriculum development with KSU Research and Extension, Global Campus. Complete.

  • Expand farm tours, workshops, beekeeping. Complete.

Phase 3: 2017 and 2018

  • Write and submit supporting grants. Underway.

  • Begin initial workshops on farm site. Underway.

  • Expand farm tours and workshops. Underway.

  • Submit NIFA proposal. Released by NIFA Nov 2017

  • KSU/SAVE host summit. Scheduling.

  • Incrementally improve training farm. Underway.

  • Expand apprenticeship program. Underway.

Phase 4: 2019 - 2021

  • Expand workshops on training farm.

  • Build new facilities on training farm.

  • Expand apprenticeships. Underway.

  • Expand beekeeping to 500 colonies. Underway.

  • Continue fundraising efforts. Underway.

  • Begin accredited classes with first residential students during 2019. Underway
